As a business advisor, you know the most difficult part of your job is the “feast or famine” nature of our work.  When we’re busy with billable hours, we don’t have time to prospect for new clients.  When engagements end, we have holes in our schedules.

A Personal Note from Jon Denney, I-BON Founder

For years, I had thought about creating a business owner networking group prior to finally doing it.  It seemed like a great way to get clients and build a solid revenue stream for myself each month.  I was right!
On the one-year anniversary of launching my group in Albany, New York (Capital Region Business Owners – CRBO), I was billing exactly $20,670 per month in recurring revenue.  Those numbers have continued to grow every single month since then, without exception.
This wasn’t easy to do.  I had to create a business model, promotional material, website, sales model, pricing model, and marketing strategy to launch and grow my membership group.  Then, I had to create every bit of the content for each monthly meeting.  I learned strategies that allow me to leverage my intellectual property in other valuable service offerings in my coaching/consulting business.
I have done a lot of things right, but I’ve also made some costly mistakes along the way.
